2023 Winter Fundraising
Will you help the Okanagan Fruit Tree Project support community-based food production, increase participation in local food systems, reduce tens of thousands of pounds of food waste, and share food with our community in a stigma-free way?
Help us reach our goal of $15,000!
By contributing today, your donation will play a vital role in fostering sustainable agriculture, community engagement, and reducing food waste in the Okanagan. We couldn’t do it without you!
“Our donation campaign aims to support a multifaceted initiative. We have dreams of flats of seedlings, new connections, and fostering agricultural growth…”
Expanding the project’s impact is a priority, with donations earmarked for the future development of OFTP’s presence in the South Okanagan. This expansion will give us the ability as an organization to make a positive impact in areas we haven’t had the capacity to tread before.
The campaign overall seeks to increase opportunities to rescue produce from waste. In addition to these immediate goals, the project envisions long-term plans and innovative strategies. Donations will support the purchase of farm-related tools, training new staff, plantings of seedlings, and implementation of future initiatives.
Your generous donation supports us in helping build community around local food, through our 2024 Spring planning and beyond!
Where does your donation go?
- purchasing equipment and materials like irrigation, compost, gardening tools, picnic tables, and seedlings
- planting seedlings, nurturing, and harvesting fresh veggies and herbs
- staff hiring and training; planning and coordinating 50 to 100 harvests to rescue tens of thousands of pounds of fruit that would otherwise go to waste
- making fresh produce deliveries to 100+ community partner agencies (i.e homeless shelters, seniors programs, supportive and transitional housing) and schools
- sharing knowledge about our local food systems with the community through workshops and dialogues
- working with our community partners to bring school groups and social service agency clients to come out and harvest with us
- investing in digital tools and technologies to help us manage all of the data and information we need to track in order to be “a well-oiled machine” of an organization!
Thank you to our fundraiser sponsors!
We want to give a BIG heartfelt thank you to the sponsors who have supported us so far!
Through strategic partnerships, local non-profits like the Okanagan Fruit Tree Project gain access to crucial resources. This enables us to expand our reach, implement impactful programs, and effect positive change on a grassroots level. In turn, corporations and businesses benefit from enhanced brand reputation, demonstrating their dedication to making a meaningful difference in the communities where they operate. The collaboration between corporate sponsors and local non-profits becomes a catalyst for social progress, illustrating that when businesses invest in the well-being of the community, everyone stands to gain.
